About 30 Pilot Whales stranded on the Golden Bay side of the Spit just before lunchtime today.

We found the contents of a barrel washed up on the ocean beach not far from the Lighthouse at the end of Farewell Spit.

A few days ago I took some friends on a quick visit to the Spit. Along the way we collected flotsam that had washed up.
